Recently refurbished, Shawhead Village Hall is a bright and welcoming venue for our sporting and social user groups and, is also available for hire.

OAP/Concession: £10.

We are very keen to encourage increased use of the hall by the community and would like to hear from anyone willing to start a new interest group or activity. And remember, grant funding may be available to assist with set up costs.

Defibrillator

A Defibrillator is sited on the outside entrance wall at the Hall, and is immediately available for emergency use. Defibrillators are a valuable community resource, increasingly provided in many public places. Very simple to use, the device guides you through the process. and can save lives. Meets Tuesday evenings 7.30 – 9.00pm. £2.50 per person per night. All welcome.

Women’s Rural Institute

Meets the third Wednesday each month from September to June, 7.30. These are very sociable evenings covering a range of interests and skilled activities from craft to kitchen and beyond.

Shawhead WRI will meet at the Village Hall, 7.30pm on the following dates and the planned programme is as follows:

19th February- visit to gardenwise 10am
19th March- Talk on Loch Arthur
16th April  – Anne Mclaughlin – crafts
21st May – open evening, Jane Hogg, cookery demonstration
17th September- Lorraine Jackson, craft demonstration, brooches
15th October- Andrea Stewart, talk on Woolies, wool shop, Dumfries

But remember, visitors are very welcome at all the meetings so please do come along and join in for a sociable and interesting evening!

Shawhead Toddlers Group – very sad to report this is no longer running!

And we still miss two previously regular and much valued groups – Scottish Country Dancing and the Senior Citizens. Again, for anyone out there interested in re-establishing and helping run these, the Hall would be very pleased to welcome them back.
